Red Apple

I’ve always loved the Flint Farmer’s Market. I know that it’s always busy, but it was a special experience when I got to go when I was younger. Now, I love it even more because I cook a lot of veggies and I love healthy, local foods. That’s why I got so excited when I found out that the farmer’s market was moving to a bigger and better location!

It isn’t moving very far at all. But now, it is just a stone’s throw away from the parking lot that I always park in at school (on 1st St. in downtown Flint).  So, I’ll be going there all the time since my friends and I can walk there after class!  Here is some information about the new Flint Farmer’s Market:

 Why are they moving?

1. Their current location is just too small for how much they’re expanding!

2. They could stay in their current location, but the renovations would cost about $3M! Plus, there is barely any room for the future expansion that they’ve planned. With the new space, they will have plenty of room!

The Move

1. The new market was originally going to open in May, but now it is scheduled to open on June 21, 2014!

2. According to the Flint Farmer’s Market website, all of the vendors are coming to the new location but two, who are retiring.

Information about the new place!

1.The new location will have a community room that holds 200 people and a demonstration kitchen!

2. There will be 493 parking spaces in various places within walking distance of the market.

3. They will still be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. But, with the move, they are considering opening up on Fridays, too!

I hope you all enjoy the new Flint Farmer’s Market as much as I know I’m going to!
