It seems as though the stores started putting up Christmas decorations back in October.  I see co-workers taking down Halloween decorations and putting up Christmas decorations and we haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet.  Before you know it, we will be making decisions about what our new year’s resolution will be.  In the first week of January gym memberships will be ready to take off since getting physically fit is always at the top of everyone’s list.  Have you ever thought of getting yourself FINANCIALLY FIT?  When you make a goal to make financial changes, it is amazing to see how attainable they really are.  Maybe in 2017 we will see some of our members make FINANCIAL New Year’s resolutions.

Ideas for 2017 for Financial New Year’s Resolutions might be:

  • I am going to make more meals at home this year to save money.
  • I will not live beyond my means this year.
  • I am going to pay down my debt.
  • This year I will be better about creating an emergency savings account.
  • I will save for my child’s education fund.
  • I will sell things around my house to (goal goes here)
  • I am going to find a way to stop renting and purchase my own home.

ELGA Credit Union would love to see you begin making some financial goals.  In fact, we would like to help you with this!  In October we rolled out a Financial Fitness series of thirteen seminars.  We are beginning again with seminar one even though the series we started is continuing.  This will get you started right from the beginning.
