On June 6th and 7th ELGA Credit Union participated in the Grand Blanc Relay for Life at the Grand Blanc High School.  ELGA Credit Union associates, friends and family were out in full force to support such a great cause.  What is Relay for Life?  Relay for Life is an event that was started by Dr. GordonGordyKlatt.  In the mid-1980’s Dr. Klatt wanted to enhance the income for his local American Cancer Society Office so he decided to personally raise money for them.  He enjoyed running marathons so he spent 24 hours circling a local college track.  Throughout the night friends paid $25.00 to walk or run with him.  They raised $27,000.00 that night.  That is how Relay for Life was born.

This year, ELGA raised a whopping $13,112.42 for the American Cancer Society.  This is, by far, the most money raised by ELGA Credit Union.  We could not have done this without the help of so many associates, ELGA Credit Union members, friends and family.  It is truly touching to see how many people came out to support  such a great cause.  Cancer touches everyone and anything we can do to help is truly a blessing for so many people that we may never meet.

Thank you to the associates of ELGA Credit Union that came out to walk at Relay and a special thank you to the ones that braved the full 24 hours with Elyse and myself.
