It is that time of the year again to gear up for our annual PACK THE TRUCK event! This year we celebrate our 10th year of giving children in our community the tools they need to succeed.

The collection day will be July 31st from 8am – 5pm at the Burton branch of ELGA Credit Union. It is a fun day where our public safety, staff and community come together to collect both supplies and cash donations for the cause. ALL cash donations are then spent right here in our own community.

This event is unique in the fact that the supplies are put right in the hands of the educators – the people who work with these children on a daily basis and truly know and understand the need.

The school supplies are given away at a breakfast where community leaders and businesses take time to share with the superintendents and principals how they can help support their school in different ways. The breakfast will take place this year on August 21st at 8:00 am in the community room at ELGA Credit Union – Burton .

During the breakfast, supplies are not only given for the children but much needed supplies for the classroom such as Kleenex, hand sanitizer, dry erase pens, etc. are as well. There are also drawings for class room pizza parties, popcorn machines, bounce houses, flowers and lots more.

Together with our community partners in the past years we have been able to raise $59,200 in monetary donations plus a very generous amount of school supplies to provide our area schools.

They say… “It takes a “VILLAGE” to raise a child – I believe it takes a COMMUNITY !

Thank you for supporting our kids! -Cheryl Sclater
