The parade started at 1:00pm with almost 100 floats that made their way through the town of Montrose. M57 (Vienna Rd) is shut down through Montrose to allow the parade to make their way through town. Each year the parade has a new theme, and this year’s theme was Boo-Berry! It’s so much fun to see all the floats and decorations that businesses come up with for the event. The Blueberry parade is one of the bigger parades in the area, with hundreds of people gathering to get a front-row view. As we make our way along the route each year, it’s so much fun to see our members cheering us on! We are always blown away by the crowds and the number of people cheering when they see the ELGA parade banner. All ages will find something fun to do at the Montrose Blueberry Festival. There is a blueberry store, pig roast, beer tent, car show, princess tea party for the kids, blueberry pie-eating contest, teen dance contest, and a carnival midway. There’s even an all-you-can-eat blueberry pancake and sausage breakfast. The tent features a kids’ karaoke contest during the day and live music and DJs at night for the adults. We love to see all of the support from the community light up the streets at this parade. ELGA Credit Union has participated in this event for several years. I love this parade and look forward to seeing so many of our members there. Montrose is a small town full of giant hearts and this parade truly shows it.
