I’m always grateful, especially this time of year.  Grateful for a loving God, wonderful family, an awesome workplace with fine associates, good health and fortune.

Center for Hope

I had the opportunity this week to deliver a check and visit “The Center for Hope” in downtown Flint.  It’s located on Fifth Ave in the old St. Michaels School.  This place is an amazing resource for our homeless population or those needing temporary help.   Here’s a rundown of their services that helped 99,000 clients last year:

  • Prevention/Education Services
  • Counseling Services
  • Child Welfare
  • Healthy Start Home Visits
  • Hot Meals & – Sack Lunches Served
  • Community Closet  & Food Pantry
  • Warming Center
  • Mr. Rogers Program
  • Kinship Caregivers Program
  • Homeless Services

They have a capital campaign going on right now to bring this building up to code.  Once completed they will be able to house Resource Genesee and Genesee Health System.  This will provide a one stop aide for those needing help.  It is an amazing, much needed project designed to change people’s lives for the better.   They are nearly at the half way mark to the $5.5 M needed.

Please consider what you can do to help financially, volunteering, or donating your excess clothing, shoes, toys, & household items.  They can use it all!  I urge you to visit the Center.

Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you? Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Karen has seen ELGA grow from a one branch, three million dollar credit union with five employees, to an over three hundred seventy four million, eight branch credit union employing 150. She is especially proud of her associates as they are committed to serving others and they work to improve member’s financial well-being while building lifelong relationships.
