Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Christmas is getting closer every day and the pressure to buy gifts is building with every commercial and billboard I see. I know for myself and many others, buying presents this year is going to be a stretch because of bills and other expenses that take first priority. I don’t want my loved ones to go without this Christmas, but how can I give them something without breaking the bank? Recently it was again called to my attention that not everything worth giving costs money. In fact, some of the best gifts that you could ever give cannot be found in any store. In the spirit of the holiday season I want to suggest a few gift ideas that will never be forgotten. And the best part of all, not one of them costs a dime. TIME. This is the first one that comes to mind. Do you know someone who might be lonely this holiday season, perhaps a widower or maybe a kid who has lost a parent? Maybe you have a neighbor that needs help putting up their Christmas decorations. You could call up that long lost friend or relative to let them know you are thinking of them. And how about on the road, taking your time with other drivers could make someone’s day or even save someone’s life. Give others your time this season. FORGIVENESS. You may have to take a deep breath on that one and I don’t blame you. I’m sure you already have someone in mind from reading that word. Have you had a falling out with a friend, loved one, or co-worker? Forgiveness can be extremely difficult. This is as good a time as any to take that brave step towards making the relationship right again. Give the priceless gift of forgiveness to someone who needs it from you. APPRECIATION. That’s right; a plain and simple “thank you” can go a long way. Think of someone who needs to know that you appreciate them. Has a friend really meant something to you lately? How about your parents, have they helped you out over that past year? You could write a nice note to your boss in appreciation for your job. In this economy, if you have a job, that is almost a must. Give the gift of appreciation to those around you. There are countless ways to give gifts like these that don’t cost money. Be creative and try to come up with some of your own. Don’t let fear stop you from spreading Christmas cheer through gifts like these. It may take a little extra courage and it may take you out of your comfort zone, but I think you will find that this could be your most memorable Christmas yet.
