On Thursday, May 12th & Friday, May 13th, 2016 the auditorium at Mott Community College (MCC) was filled to capacity with guests waiting in anticipation to see the 10th anniversary show of Mott, Motown & More.  Mott, Motown & More is a local celebrity lip sync fundraiser show hosted by The Foundation for MCC.  The Foundation’s purpose is to assist students with scholarships, promote special projects at the college and enhance the quality of education and opportunity in this community.   This event is one of its biggest annual fundraisers and of course ELGA Credit Union had to be a part of it!

Other ELGA associates have participated in the past at Mott, Motown & More, but this was the first year that I had the pleasure of performing in it and it was such an amazing experience!  There are many different local groups that volunteer their time to become a star and perform in the show.  It all starts several weeks in advance of the first lift of the stage curtain.  Each group chooses a song from the Motown era, or beyond, to lip sync to.  Then every group also creates a dance and look to go along with their song. It is truly a full performance.

Me and five of my fabulous ELGA associates chose to perform the well loved, 1990 R&B classic hit “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe.   We put in many long hours into our practices to make sure our dance moves were just right, and also spent time perfectly coordinating our outfits.  After our performance on the first night, we realized that all of our hard work really paid off.  We were a hit! We couldn’t wait to get back on the stage the second night and do it all over again, and now we are already discussing what we should perform next year.

Thank you to my fellow ELGA Associates Kevin Galloway, Mindi Johnson, Jay McDaniel, Kitya Shepherd, and Tyler Caryl for making my first Mott, Motown & More experience so wonderful.  It is also great that ELGA allows and supports its associates to do such a variety of things to help benefit our community. Be sure to purchase your Mott, Motown & More tickets early next year so that you can check out our next performance and support The Foundation for MCC.
