ELGA Credit Union associates participated in the Davison Festival of Flags Parade on Saturday June 11th. We were very thankful for the beautiful, sunny, and 90 degree weather on the day of the parade.  The parade route took us for a walk through downtown Davison on Main Street where we proudly held a large ELGA banner and passed out candy and bouncy balls to the kids. We also passed out booklets with coupons for people to use at a variety of places all throughout Genesee County. This was a fun event where we really had the chance show the ELGA Way to the community of Davison. So many people from the Davison community showed up to watch the parade and cheer on the countless area businesses who also took part in the parade.

We designed¬†our ELGA parade¬†shirts to be a bright blue so that we would stand out in the crowd, and¬†to go along with the theme of a flag for the Festival of Flags. Of course we had to hand out candy to the kids because what kid doesn’t look forward to collecting candy at a parade?!¬† There were tons of people lined up along the streets!¬† It was nice to see many familiar faces of our ELGA members¬† in the crowds lining the streets. Many of these faces were people who regularly come into the Credit Union and they seemed genuinely¬†excited to see us there.¬† Their excitement made us feel how proud they are to be a member¬†of ELGA Credit Union.¬†

I decided to be the champion of this event because I live in the Davison community and also grew up there. Throughout grade school I often participated in the Davison Festival of Flags Parade with the cheer team, so it has always been something I looked forward to being a part of. I was happy to continue the tradition with my fellow ELGA associates. After serving as the event champion for the Davison Festival of Flags Parade it made me realize just how important it is for ELGA associates to be visible at community events like the this.  I look forward to being a part of this parade again next year!
