Collage Veterans Honor Run

ELGA’s Wellness Team was at it again…..

Collage Veterans Honor Run

On November 4th, 2017 ELGA associates and people from all over the community came together at Blessed Sacrament Church in Burton to celebrate our local veterans.  It was amazing to see so many people there to participate on such a cold morning.  I was also excited to have the chance to honor our local heroes who have served or who are currently serving.

The City of Burton Parks & Recreation did a wonderful job organizing the Veterans Honor Run, which included both a 5K Walk/Run and 11K Run.  This race also was the final race in the four part Burton Race Series. If you completed all four races in the series: Burton Kiwanis Hot Fudge 5K Run & Walk, Race2Grace, City of Burton Memorial Day 5K Run & Walk, and the Veterans Honor Run 5K & 11K, you received a special completion race medal.  Many of our ELGA associates were VERY excited to receive this special medal after attending all of these races throughout 2017.

Each race participant also received a voucher for a post-race meal.  The meal included mostaccioli, salad and breadsticks.  Sitting down to eat gave participants an opportunity to talk to some of our local heroes, and meet others in the community.

It was also great to know that all proceeds from this race benefitted the City of Burton Parks & Recreation and the Disabled American Veterans organization.  With having the privilege of knowing many veterans, I was proud to be there and represent ELGA Credit Union at this event.
