The annual Montrose Candle Walk was held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 5PM to 8:30PM.  ELGA Credit Union was excited to have the opportunity to support our local community by being at the first Candle Walk Parade in our community.  We had our own inflatable Santa and reindeer in the parade as we went through the three block route, handing out candy, and just enjoying being a part of the special event. The parade wrapped up with Santa and Mrs. Claus coming down the route to the Montrose Depot were kids were able to meet them and take pictures.

ELGA had a group of 15 people walking down the parade route.  The event was a lot of fun for people of all ages to enjoy many different activities.  The Cub Scouts were roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.  There was a DJ playing holiday favorites.  The telephone museum was open to the public.  All in all, the event definitely helped bring the holiday spirit to the Montrose community as we kicked off the holiday season.

I personally got involved with the Candle Walk Committee in early September to help replace previous committee members who were ready to pass the torch on.  Though we knew there would be challenges in our first year of taking on this new task, we were ready to take it on and make the Candle Walk a success.  We had a lot of fun and learned a lot, and we can’t wait to make the 2018 Montrose Candle Walk Parade the best one yet!
