On May 26th through May 29th, ELGA hosted our 3rd Annual Memorial Day Charity Tent Sale.  This year was bigger than ever.  To accommodate all of the donated items, we had five gigantic tents filled with anything and everything you could imagine.  There were many awesome people that came out to help and who put in a lot of hard work.  Volunteers included ELGA Credit Union Associates, Catholic Charity Volunteers, ELGA Credit Union Members, and the Kohl’s Care Team.  It is because of these wonderful volunteers that we were able to make the Ginormous Tent sale such a success, and we truly appreciate everyone who lent a helping hand!

Funds raised from the Ginormous Tent sale went towards Mr. Gaines Garden program, which is a program of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee County.  In total we raised $21,500.  This program employs local youth to plant, harvest, and sell garden vegetables. They also learn about cooking, nutrition and life skills.  It is a wonderful opportunity for these young people in our community.  Mr. Greg Gaines has headed up this program locally for 27 years.  For this work and his dedication to the community, Mr. Gaines will be honored by the Ruth Mott Foundation on June 21st with a Leadership Award.

We are happy and proud to have been a part of this important endeavor, and we look forward to the success of Mr. Gaines Garden program for many years to come.
