Of course we all know what it’s like to get up early on a weekend, and not want to get out of bed! However, when you’re able to go out and do something for a great cause it makes it worth it right? Well, ELGA’s Wellness Team has several busy weekends ahead with some pretty early mornings. Saturday, July 15th we kicked off our busy Summer season. ELGA’s Wellness Team early start began at 7:30am with team pictures before participating in the 16th Annual Bastille Day Run/Walk in downtown Fenton.  The Bastille Day race is a 5k or 15k, and all race proceeds are donated to the Genesee County Habitat for Humanity. If you don’t know about Habitat for Humanity, it is a non-profit organization that loves to give back to the community just as much ELGA Credit Union does!

It was beautiful, warm and sunny out this past Saturday morning. The course took us through the community of downtown Fenton, and was definitely challenging!  Even though it was a demanding race course, ELGA’s Wellness Team pushed through.  All of our teammates finished with smiles on their faces, (even if they were a little out of breath.)  After the race was completed we were able to enjoy in many awesome things that downtown Fenton had to offer: beautiful scenery, a welcoming community, and of course great snacks!  CRUST – A Baking Company, located in downtown Fenton, provided us with delectable fresh bread, salted butter or peanut butter.  We were also spoiled with fresh local root beer and live music!

I love that our ELGA Wellness Team allows us to both work on our wellness and build strong relationships with our fellow associates. Not to mention, each race we participate in gives back to the community while we get to have fun doing it! Be sure to catch at our next race on Saturday, July 22nd at Atwood Stadium.  We would love to have you join us and hope to see you there!
